Richmond Singers - Richmond, Canada
The Richmond Singers, a diverse community choir of 55 women, have shared their love of music in concert since 1971. They are active in Richmond’s community life and have represented British Columbia at national and international festivals, including UNISONG in Ottawa, Festival 500 in Newfoundland, and the Kathaumixw International Choral Festival, where they will return this year. Under the direction of Fabiana Katz, with accompanist Elizabeth Oh, they rehearse weekly, focusing on vocal technique and musical excellence. Their Richmond Singers Ensemble, a smaller group of retired and active members, brings music to seniors in care and hosts an annual Christmas concert for the community. Governed by an elected Board of Directors, the choir engages in fundraising, workshops, and community performances throughout the year. Their December concert is a holiday tradition, and they regularly participate in events like Richmond Culture Days and Songs in the Snow. This spring, they will be guest performers with the Vancouver Welsh Men’s Choir and at “Richmond Sings” before previewing their Kathaumixw performance at their spring concert. They look forward to returning to Powell River, connecting with choirs from around the world, and fostering future musical collaborations.
