King’s College Kappella - Auckland, New Zealand
Founded in 2024 and conducted by Steven
Rapana and Rachel Alexander Sutherland,
Kappella quickly established itself within
King’s College’s choral tradition, winning
multiple awards at this year’s The Big Sing
Regional and National Festivals, including
the Audience Prize and a commendable program
award for a mixed-voice choir in Auckland.
In 2024, they were invited as featured artists
at the Musicworks Ensemble Festival Aotearoa, where their 30-minute performance
earned a platinum award. Known for excellence and connection with audiences, Kappella
continues to showcase the talent and dedication of King’s College students.
Rachel Alexander Sutherland holds a Master’s in Classical Voice from the University
of Auckland and has over 20 years of experience as a voice specialist and choral director.
Steven Rapana Steven Rapana is a graduate of the University of Auckland in vocal performance and
choral studies, Steven has arranged and composed music for many notable national choirs
including the New Zealand Secondary Students' Choir and the New Zealand Youth Choir.
