La Cigale de Lyon ~ France
The Cigale de Lyon is a children's choir whose members are hand-picked. It was founded in 1947 by Christian Wagner and Anne-Marie Cabut has been at the helm since 1995.
The Cigale de Lyon is affiliated with the French federation " A Cœur Joie " , the FIMC and the European federation Europa Cantat.
Its repertoire includes a sundry range of styles with musical open-mindedness at the heart of all preoccupations as it is the very essence of the choir's existence: from accapella classical music to the same with a piano accompaniment all the way up to one-off, specially-created polyphonies.
The Cigale has won many international awards. In April of 2009 it was critically acclaimed with an " Excellent" at the Montreux Festival in Switzerland. It's taken part in a large number of festivals and often tours Europe as well as the United States, South America, Japan or China and records Cds on a regular basis.
Anne-Marie Cabut, conductor
Anne-Marie Cabut is a teacher of music and choir singing; former student of Christian Wagner at the Conservatory of Lyon. She has been in charge of « children's choirs » at A Cœur Joie France since 2001.
She does a wonderful job of representing La Cigale de Lyon's tradition of excellence in many exchange programs all over the world and is a regular guest at numerous choir get-togethers.
