Christ the King Church Choir ~ Uganda
Christ the King Church Choir of Kampala, Uganda will celebrate its 80th anniversary in August 2010.
It has over 90 members who sing and lead the faithful during Sunday Mass as well as performing at weddings and baptisms, Thanksgiving and Requiem Masses, Ecumenical Services and state functions. Easter and Christmas performances are based on works by local and international composers.
This is the fifth time the choir will attend the International Choral Kathaumixw. The choir won the Folk Song Competition during their first appearance.
Fred Kasujja, conductor
Dr. Fred Kasujja is a Uganda choral conductor who has worked with several youth and universities’ choirs in Kampala, Uganda as a music director.
Fred started studying choral conducing at the Uganda music school assisted by a visiting UK conductor, Bob Busby. He has attended several workshops and master classes in choral conducting. Fred’s passion for music has paved way for him to take part in many music festivals at home and abroad. He is currently assistant music director of Christ the King Church Choir, Kampala and will lead the choir to the International Choral Kathaumixw Festival in July 2010. He is a medical doctor by profession.
