Surrey Youth ‘Chamber Choir’

The Surrey Youth “Chamber Choir” is dedicated to providing comprehensive musical training in the art and technique of choral singing. Choristers experience the enthusiasm and expertise of the distinguished music faculty and visiting guest artists in a nurturing, respectful and professional environment. These 160 exuberant voices (based in Ocean Park, South Surrey) present several acclaimed community concerts of superb music from a diverse repertoire.

Stephen Horning

Founder/Director of the Surrey Children’s Choir, Stephen Horning graduated from the University of Victoria majoring in composition, piano and choral studies.  He has studied conducting with Eric Ericson, Elmer Iseler, Sir David Willcocks, John Tuttle, Doreen Rao, Jean Ashworth Bartle and Bruce Pullen.  Mr. Horning founder the Campbell River Children’s Choir and has conducted the North Island Choral Society, the Douglas College Children’s Choir and the Surrey District Honour Children’s Choir.  He and his wife Marisa Gaetanne were co-recipients of the 1999 Willan Award for Outstanding Service to the British Columbia Choral Federation.
