Phoenix Girls Chorus -Cantabile

Founded in 1991, the Phoenix Girls Chorus is a not-for-profit organization that offers a graduated choir program for girls ages 7 -18.  Under the accomplished direction of Artistic Director Sue Kenly Marshall since 1982, the Chorus has enjoyed steady growth and popularity during her 25-year tenure.  The organization serves approximately 200 girls in five choirs.  Education includes proper vocal technique, performance skills, sight singing and music theory, all approaching college level.  The repertoire includes classical, folk and contemporary choral literature as well as Broadway musical pieces.  Previous performing choirs have taken part in such prestigious choral events as the International Choral Kathaumixw 2000 and the Vermont International Choral Festival.  They have toured throughout the United States as well as France, Germany, Austria, England, Wales and the Czech Republic.

Sue Kenly Marshall

Sue Kenly Marshall graduated from Arizona State University with a degree in vocal performance and a minor in organ studies. She initiated the first training choir program for the Phoenix Girls Chorus in 1981 and has been the Chorus’ Artistic Director for 23 years. Ms. Marshall has performed as a soloist and choir singer with a number of Valley churches and also with the Phoenix Bach Choir.  She has served as a member of the American Choral Directors Association State Board and is a member of Sigma Alpha Iota and MENC.  She is also a private voice teacher.
