Columbia Children’s’ Choir
Established in February, 1984 by Steve Stevens, founder-artistic director, the international award-winning Columbia Choirs of Metropolitan Seattle will celebrate its 25th Anniversary during the 2008-09 season. It is a family of international award-winning choirs; Children’s Choirs, Vocal Ensemble (Youth Choir) and Con Brio Women’s Choir. There are approximately 150 singers (3 years old through College and beyond) who come from over 30 communities. The choirs have toured internationally since 1987 and have earned acclaim and awards on their many travels; including first place in the folksong division of the International Choral Kathaumixw and numerous 2nd place finishes. The choir has concertized in Australia, Canada, Great Britain, Continental Europe, Mexico, Russia and the United States. Locally, the choir performs with major orchestras such as the Seattle Symphony. Its members have also sung as soloists and choristers with Seattle Opera. Regionally, the choir performs for conventions, civic groups, municipal functions, unique events such as the Christmas Ship Cruises and participates in performances to benefit various children’s charities in the Seattle area.

Steve Stevens
 Steve Stevens is one of the most experienced conductors of community based children’s choirs in the United States. A native of Texas, he began his musical studies at age 6 with the study of piano. The turning point in his life came with his successful membership in the fames Texas Boys Choir of Fort Worth (the group Igor Stravisnsky called “the best boys choir in the world”) He earned a BA from Houston Baptist University and following study and performance of opera in Europe completed his post-graduate studies achieving a M.Mus. in Choral Conducting. Choirs under his direction have consistently won international acclaim for their high standard of singing, artistry and musicianship.
