Artists Choirs Jury Past Participants

 

University of Guelph Chamber Choir

This Canadian choir, University of Guelph Chamber Singers, is comprised of students and alumni who specialize in fields as diverse as Veterinary Medicine, International Development, Languages, Applied Sciences and Music. In addition to performing at University functions, the choir has been featured at national events such as Podium 2002, and University Voices 2003 and 2004. In 2002 they recorded a CD entitled “The Bells of Peace” in order to fundraise for War Child Canada and continues to take an active part in charitable events and the promotion of peace. University of Guelph Chamber Singers participated at “Festival 500” in 2005 in Newfoundland and joined the Elora Festival Singers in concert after collaborating with this internationally renowned ensemble for Noel Edison’s Workshop for Conductors.

Marta McCarthy

Marta McCarthy is an Assistant Professor at the University of Guelph where she has been directing the choirs and teaching musicianship for ten years. She has received degrees from the Westminster Choir College of Princeton, the Royal Conservatory of Music and the University of Toronto. Ms. McCarthy was awarded the 1999 Elmer Iseler Conducting Fellowship and has received an Ontario Volunteer Service Award. She was selected as a member of the June Callwood Circle of Caring and in 2005 was named the Guelph Woman of Distinction for Arts and Culture.
