The Nova Gorica Men’s Octet “Vrtnica”

The singers named their group after the symbol of their Slovenian home town Nova Gorica, i.e. the red rose. It was formed in 1981 and men from Slovenia and Italy have sung in the group. Since its foundation, the Vrtnica Octet has performed numerous concerts, performances and participated in many diplomatic receptions at home and abroad. Having toured many countries in Europe the group has spread Slovene music around the world. In 2001 the group won the gold medal and first prize at the 8th International Competition Orlando di Lasso in Italy and the next year received a second prize at the Choir Olympics in Busan, South Korea.
