Philippine Saringhimig Singers

The Philippine Saringhimig Singers was founded by artistic Director George Hernandez in 1974 as a chamber choir at the University of the Philippines. The group rapidly gained recognition as one of the best choirs in the Philippines and embarked on several European concert tours. They participated in choral festivals winning choral competitions and receiving critical reviews from European critics. The choir is now based in San Francisco.

George Hernandez

Mr. George Hernandez received his Bachelor of Music degree in piano and choral conducting from the University of Philippines in 1981. He formed the Saringhimig Singers while he was a choral conducting student at the University. He moved to San Francisco to continue his studies in choral conducting, piano and organ. Mr. Hernandez, a bass, has been a chorus member of the San Francisco Opera since 1990.
