Horlychka

The Ukrainian Choir Horlychka is the oldest choir from the Children Youth Theatre of Song that was founded in 1991 in Lviv. The name of the group means “Turtle Dove”.

The choir's repertoire includes modern compositions, Ukrainian folk songs and sacred music and music written especially for the choir by their country’s composers. They perform at Easter, Christmas and on the anniversaries of famous Ukrainian poets. Horlychka sing in many languages including English, German, French, and Hungarian. The performances often include choreography. Well-known Ukrainian composers have composed music for the choir.

During their history, Horlychka has won awards in Poland, Hungary, Slovak Republic, France, Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Belgium and Romania.. Horlychka often performs on the stage of the National Palace of Culture in Kiev.

Halyna Ravlinko

The conductor of Horlychka, Halyna Ravlinko, was born in Lviv, Ukraine. She was interested in music from childhood. In 1973, after finishing school, Mrs. Ravlinko entered Drohobych Pedagogical Institute. After graduating she became the ensemble conductor of the choir Prolisok and then as chorus leader of the children’s ensemble Spivanochky. In 1991 Mrs. Ravlinko founded Horlychka and has been its conductor since that time.
