Piedmont Choirs – Concert Choir

The Concert Choir is one of the thirteen choral groups that make up the Piedmont Choirs. Three hundred and fifty students, ages 6 to 18, from the San Francisco Bay Area participate in the choirs. They receive a dynamic education in choral music with emphasis on ensemble performance, vocal technique and music theory. With a renowned program of touring and competition, Piedmont Choirs have garnered both critical acclaim and numerous awards. The Concert Choir has participated in the Niagara Music Festival in Canada, the Pacific International Children’s Choir Festival in Eugene, Oregon and the Crescent City Choral Festival in New Orleans.

 

Martin Benvenuto

Martin Benvenuto, conductor of Concert Choir and Director of Vocal Pedagogy, joined Piedmont Choirs’ faculty in 2001. At St. Patrick’s School in Buenos Aires, Argentina, he led a graded choral program that obtained awards and toured internationally. Mr. Benvenuto earned his Master’s degree from Westminster Choir College in Choral Conducting and Voice Performance and Pedagogy. He has been on the faculty of Contra Costa Children’s Chorus and is currently a candidate for the D.M.A. in Choral Conducting at Boston University. He is active as a clinician, panelist and guest conductor.
