Wuhan Children's Radio & TV Glee Club

This choir from China was established in 1949. Approximately 70 students from middle and primary schools from Wuhan are selected to perform, often under the direction of eminent guest musicians. They have participated in the National Red-May and Little Lark Singing Contests for Children, the China Hubei Platform Concert and the
China Hubei Yellow Crane Art Festival. Over the years the choir has recorded nearly 100 songs. The book 'Selected Children's Songs' edited by the choir has achieved a circulation of 20,000. They have also recorded theme music for TV plays, dramas and movies. Chinese musicians have praised their outstanding singing. Upon graduation, numerous members have chosen to have careers in the Arts.
Chen Guoquan
Chen Guoquan in a professor at China Wuhan Conservatory, a member of China Chorus Association and vice- chairman of Hubei
Chorus Association. He is best known as a music theoretician, conductor
and composer. Apart from instrumental and orchestral composition, he is
skilled in the adaptation of folk songs. His style can be described as
clear, accurate, passionate and poetic. Mr. Chen is guest conductor of
several choirs and has taken them to Hong Kong, Taiwan and Singapore for
concert tours.
