Orfeon Chamber Choir

The Orfeon Chamber Choir from Turkey was established in 1994 for the purpose of performing distinguished examples of world choir music belonging to different periods and regions as well as introducing polyphonic choir music to audiences in different regions of Turkey. The multi-lingual repertoire of the Choir consists of works from the Middle Ages, Renaissance, Classical, Romantic and Contemporary periods and the works of the Turkish Five and the following generation of Turkish composers. The choir participates in many Festivals at home and abroad. In 1998 they attended the 18th Béla Bartók International Choir Concert in Hungary, in 1999 they were at the Teesside International Eisteddfod in England and in 2000 represented Turkey in the first Choir Olympics organized in Linz, Austria. At all three Festivals they received prestigious awards.
Elnara Kerimova
Elnara Kerimova studied Choir Conducting at Asaf Zeynalli Music College. After she graduated from Uzeyir Hacibeyov State Conservatory, she started to conduct the State Polyphonic Choir of Azerbaijan. She participated in various festivals and performed at many concerts in different countries as well as at the Ankara Music Festival in 1991. She has been conducting the Ankara Radio and Television Polyphonic Choir since 1992 and the Orfeon Chamber Choir since 1999.
